FAE Art Dare April 2010: Color and Eggs in the Grass

Spring is properly underway! And so are the artistic efforts of the Fantasy Artists of Etsy, celebrating the time of new growth. Birds are building their homes and the most delicate flowers are making themselves seen. Spring is the time of the Egg Moon, the Pink Moon, and of course the Grass Moon, for above and around everything are the new green sprouts growing high...

Athena's Armoury Raffle

Our friend and fellow FAE team member, Janine from Athena's Armoury, is taking on a huge challenge. She is participating in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Walk for the Cure. It is an amazing event that challenges each individual participating both physically and mentally, along with raising money for breast cancer research. Janine's fundraising goal is $2300, and she is 67% there having raised a little over $1500! She is having a blog raffle with an awesome assortment of handcrafted prizes
(many of them made by our great FAEteam members!). Raffle tickets are $5 each and can be purchased by donating to her fundraising efforts. You can find out all the juicy details by visiting her blog post here .
Even if you can't help by placing a monetary donation, please help Janine spread the word by posting a link to her blog raffle on Twitter, Facebook, or your own blog!

Interview with Angelia of On Gossamer Wings

Today's FAEteam interview is with Angelia Doyle of On Gossamer Wings, from Hurst, Texas.

Fun Fact: I LOVE stripey socks and wind chimes!
What is your workspace like? Big! We just moved into a new home, and I have the workspace of my dreams. I’m still in the “settling in” phase, so not everything has found it’s permanent home just yet.
What makes you happy? My family… and stripey socks!

FANTASY
What sparked your love for fantasy? How old were you?
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t in love with fantasy: the stories, the costumes, the settings….everything about it!
What do you like most about the fantasy genre? The fact that anything is possible.
What is your favorite fantasy book/movie/series? Fairy Tale, Labyrinth, Hook, Peter Pan, Legend, Willow, The Dark Crystal, A Midsummers Night's Dream, Princess Bride, and SO many more!

ART
Are you formally trained or self-taught?
I’m self-taught at making fairy wings, but I was a Fine Arts major in college.
Any artists who inspire you? Amy Brown, Molly Harrison, Linda Ravenscroft, Renee Biertempfel, Nene Thomas…and many, many more!
What do you hope people will feel when they see your art? I hope they feel happiness! One of the best compliments that I can receive is a great, big smile!

ETSY AND SELLING
What advice would you give to other artists/Etsy sellers?
Never give up! Always continue to fine tune your store, and good photography is worth its weight in gold!
How do you handle criticism? Depends upon how it is given. If someone is trying to be constructive, then I listen with an open mind and try to determine if what’s being said is truly in my best interest.
What motivates you? New designs! I dream of new designs almost every night, and I can’t wait to see them come to life!

Bunnies and Baskets and Eggs, Oh My

Fickle Spring weather for some, but that will not deter the Fae Folk from calling up the imagery of the season and filling their baskets with sweet stuffs.

However you celebrate (or don't), these are icons of fertility, sunlit glorious garish color, and the promise of renewal. Delight. Indulge. Hope.
